Species that Specialize

Showcasing Edgewood’s endangered, threatened, or “species of special concern” animal and plant species, an interactive mechanical game illustrates how specialization can lead to extinction when habitat is lost. Species include the fountain thistle (less water), San Mateo thornmint (nonnative grasses), bay checkerspot (more cars, nonnative grasses), blind harvestman (removal of hiding places), and western bluebird (nonnative grasses).
