The FRIENDS OF EDGEWOOD organization is involved in a number of activities year-round:

  • We train docents and conduct docent-led walks, featuring the spring wildflowers of Edgewood.
  • We reach out to the community to promote educational programs at Edgewood.
  • With the help of dedicated volunteers, we work on habitat restoration, including the removal of exotics (i.e. weeds) which threaten the native plants of Edgewood.
  • We map the natural resources of Edgewood using GIS/GPS technology.
  • We gather seeds from Edgewood, nurture them, and plant the seedlings to promote the viability of the native plant communities and repair the damage caused by people going off-trail.
  • We participate in the Volunteer Trail Patrol at Edgewood.
  • Through the CalTrans Adopt-A-Highway Program, we've adopted the northbound section of Interstate 280 adjacent to Edgewood.

On October 19th, 2003, we celebrated our 10th anniversary with Powers of 10.

In 2002, we inaugurated Expressions of Edgewood, an exhibit of photos taken at Edgewood by Bay Area amateur photographers.
