Expressions of Edgewood

Entry Rules

WHAT The Friends of Edgewood Natural Preserve is sponsoring a juried exhibit of photos by Bay Area amateur photographers taken at Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve in Redwood City.

Photos can depict plant life or wildlife, natural landscapes, or people interacting with nature. They can be in color or black & white.

All qualified entries will be displayed at the San Mateo County History Museum, 777 Hamilton Street, Redwood City, from September 19 through December 31, 2002. Judges will select 16 entries for prominent display in 16x20 frames in the rotunda of the Museum and for sale to the general public.

WHO You must be a Bay Area amateur photographer to enter.

WHEN All photographs must have been taken since July 1, 2001. All entries must be postmarked between June 1 and June 30, 2002. Judging will occur during July and the 16 finalists will be notified by July 31. Finalists will be required to submit by August 15 an 11x14 enlargement of suitable quality with a check for $50 to cover framing costs. 16x20 framed photographs will be prominently displayed in the rotunda of the Museum and may be picked up by the photographer at the end of the exhibit.

The exhibit will run from September 19 through December 31, 2002. An opening night reception will occur on September 19 at 5 p.m.

HOW You may submit only 1 entry. An entry consists of a 5x7 print of your original work, a signed entry form, and a check in the amount of $10 made out to Friends of Edgewood. The 5x7 print may not be returned.

In taking photographs, you must obey all Park rules, including hours of operation and trail use rules. In particular, all photographs must be taken from a public area or a legally designated trail. You may be asked to identify the trail or public area from which you took your photograph.

Judging will be based on artistic merit. The decision of the judges is final. Unframed 11x14 prints of the 16 finalists will be available for sale (with photographer’s permission) exclusively through the Friends of Edgewood. All prints will be identically priced at $100. For each sale, $50 will be donated to the San Mateo County Parks Foundation and earmarked for the Edgewood Park Interpretive Center project. The remaining $50 will be paid to the photographer upon delivery of an 11x14 print of comparable quality.

Entrants agree to allow their submitted images to be used for limited promotional purposes for one year. Entrants retain all other rights to future use of photos.
