While helping with weeding one Friday morning this past May, Kathie lost her balance and took a little tumble, breaking both bones in her lower leg. Despite the frantic efforts of her fellow volunteers, it was about two hours before a helicopter finally reached her and airlifted her to Stanford Hospital. She is recovering at home now, and is anxious to get back on her feet and resume her volunteering.
